Trend Micro Internet Security 2006 Retail -

Question:
I'll have to look at the version of XP that we are installing this copy to. I'm confused though. I have a new laptop with Windows XP Media Center and it came with Trend Micro installed! Is there just a different version of Trend that I need to buy if the other computer is Media Center as well? Thank

Thank you for your recent visit to the Trend Micro web site and question about getting the error message "unsupported platform." I understand the inconvenience of this. I will try my best to assist you.

With regard to your concern, it is possible that the computer does not meet the system requirements for the installation, or it maybe caused by vulnerability or a virus.

To resolve the issue, please refer to our knowledgebase at <

1. Check if the computer meets the minimum system requirements

for the installation of Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security. For more information about the system requirements, please refer to this link:

Note: If you are using Windows 2000, make sure that you have Service Pack 4. You can download it for free from the Microsoft website.

2. Check if the latest updates for Microsoft Windows

XP/2000/98/98SE/ME are installed in the computer. Installing the latest updates also increases security against viruses.

Visit Microsoft for the latest Windows

Restart the computer after performing the updates, then re-install PC-cillin Internet Security.

3. Make sure that the computer is not infected with viruses.

5. Make sure that other Antivirus products or third party

Antivirus and firewall software have been completely removed from the computer.

If issue persists, please send us the System Information and Installation Logs so that we can investigate further on this issue. Please refer to the steps below.

How to get System Information:

1. Click Start.

2. Click Run.

3. Type msinfo32, click Ok.

4. System Information window will pop up, click File.

5. Click Export, type a file name and save it on your desktop.

6. Attach it on your next email.

How to get Installation Logs:

1. Click Start.

2. Click Run.

3. Type C:\Windows\Temp.

4. Look for pwixxx.log and tmpxxx.log (where xxx stands for the

number of the log files).

5. Attach it on your next mail.

No you are not doing anything wrong. Which version of XP are you using? Unfortunately, Trend does not support the Windows XP Media Edition so this might be your issue.
