Mystery Hardware arrived with my purchase - Whats it for?
ID: 3 Category: Hardware Support Status: Resolved Views: 1424

Question:
I recieved what looks like a memory chip with my order of OEM Norton Internet Security 2005. Do I need to install this chip to use the software and where do I do this?
Thanks.

Solution:
Hi There,
ALL OEM software, by law must be shipped with FCC Compliant hardware to ensure legal licensing.

Without the hardware your software license was not LEGALLY purchased in the eyes of Manufacturers.
Buycheapsoftware include the hardware with your software purchases at NO additional cost to you as the hardware much be shipped with the software to meet legal requirements. However, The Harware has NO PRACTICAL USE (unless you have a machine old enough to make use of it, although we strongly advise you not to try it!)
Put simply, you can throw the hardware away on reciept, as when you recieve it with your software, it has already served its function.
