I have reviewed the specs on both the international and the USA product and they look exactly the same except for a price difference (the international being less expensive). Can you tell me if there is an advantage to paying more for the USA box, or are they just the same product

This is a common question. The International English Version SOFTWARE AND LICENSE is Identical to the US version and can be used in the US. OEM software is licensed globally. The International English units cost a lot less and are legally licensed, but are not useful to many resellers who cannot easily resell the media to buyers unfamiliar with OEM licensing policies.
The difference in the products is that the International english version has a distribution center printed on the CD ROM, for example 'For distribution in Australia and New Zealand' or 'For Distribution in Africa and the middle east'.
If you are installing the software for home or office use and the print on the CD rom is not an issue next to price savings, then the International unit offers great savings on the same software.
