Situation:

After you install Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall, you cannot access the settings

or options of the program, or the Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall icon does not

appear in the system tray, located in the lower right-hand corner of your screen on the Windows

taskbar. You notice that the settings appear dimmed, and you may see a "Supervisor not logged in"

error message when you click the Options icon.

Solution:

This problem has more than one possible cause, so there is more than one solution. Start with the first

solution. If that does not solve the problem, try the second solution, and so on. These solutions are for

earlier version, please see the section "To fix this with Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal

Firewall 2002 and earlier" in the References section at the end of the document.

Click an icon to either expand ( ) or collapse ( ) each solution. (If you cannot expand a solution,

then read the document Cannot expand sections in a Symantec Knowledge Base document.)
